1673:
Deep in a deserted forest, a coven of witches is taken by surprise as they attempt to summon the Dark Lord, Anubin, from the spirit world.
1984:
At his Easter camp, a young boy has an amazing divine encounter. However, as the subsequent years pass, he and his girlfriend find themselves increasingly the subject of demonic visitations.
What is the connection between these seemingly isolated events, over 300 years apart? As the angelic forces of Good and Evil clash, the disturbing nature of the mystery gradually emerges.
Can the dark servants of Anubin be prevented from obtaining for him the power he so desperately seeks? – the power that comes from the black talisman.
This is my second book by Richard Storry. I have to say that I enjoyed A Looming of Vultures more than this one.
A battle between good and evil, two stories 300 years apart. This is your typical good-evil story but with heavier on religion than most. It was entertaining but too religious for my liking. I was expecting more of a paranormal book with some demons and dark moments, but there were also angels, churches, and praying involved. The second half of the book is quite predictable.
It was an okay book. Again, I expected a bit more horror and less religion. It was pretty basic and straightforward, I think I expected something a bit more sophisticated. We do not get detailed descriptions of the demon apart from his red eyes and his dark presence.
What I really enjoyed was Jake Urry’s narration and how he brought the characters to life. Urry knows how to trap the listener with his charismatic voice. He is definitely one of my favorite narrators!
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Story (Plot) | |

My name is Elena. Since I was a little child I loved science fiction and fantasy, and I can’t resist a good novel. In 2015, while wait I started to listen to audiobooks and I discovered the pleasure in being able to read while doing my daily tasks, so there’s always an audiobook playing on my phone. If you see me with my Bluetooth headphones on, please be gentle, I get easily startled.
I live with my boyfriend, which I met during my six-year stay in Belgium, four cockatiels, eight lovebirds, and a hamster in Madrid, Spain; and I like to spend my free time knitting and sewing while listening to audiobooks.
