When interstellar singer spy Jack Jones has to solve his own murder on his spaceship The Shakespeare things do not go smoothly. First his clone body loses thirty years of memories, and then it starts experiencing strange urges and abilities. As he investigates he discovers brigands, space pirates and a secret faster-than-light drive, which could push the galaxy into war.

He would sing a song, solve the mystery, and save the day --if only he could remember how.

I decided to listen to this book because the blurb caught my eye and the few ratings were good, but Edward Jackson’s terrible narration prevented me from getting into it. It was done in a very robotic way, with strange pauses mid sentence, and zero voice differentiation between narrator and characters.

It is a pity because I hate not being able to finish books that I listen to as per request, but I could not for the life of me get over the narration and continue with it.

I do appreciate Lesley L. Smith for providing me with this audiobook but I would advice to get a second narration for it, it really ruined a good book. I wish I had the time to actually read it but I know that with how life is nowadays it just won’t happen. It really saddens me.

I would advice both author and narrator to listen to a lot of audiobooks to have an idea of what things should look like, it seems the basic idea was not even contemplated here.

I received a copy of this book in audio format from the author in exchange for an honest review.
