THE BRAND NEW NOVEL IN THE INTERNATIONAL #1 BESTSELLING RIVERS OF LONDON SERIES
"This isn’t London. The rules are different up here…"

All Detective Sergeant Peter Grant wanted was a nice holiday up in Scotland. He'll need one once this is over...
check. some. sort of - but that's not the only thing in the sky...

I had the release day marked in my calendar because I always love Peter Grant’s snarky remarks as he’s fighting evil forces. In this case, he goes with his whole family and friends to spend a summer vacation in Scotland. Like previous installments, this was a page-turner. Some chapters are from Abigail’s point of view, which is now also grown-up and is trained in magic by Nightingale himself, who also makes brief appearances in the book.

I enjoyed it from beginning to end, and it’s a series I’d recommend to everybody.

I only removed half a star because I’d like for Abigail to have her own tone. It’s true that Abigail’s parts are narrated in the present tense and her vocabulary is more juvenile than Peter’s, but some of the architectonic descriptions still ring a bit similar to what Peter would say. I would also have liked to see more of Nightingale’s presence and epic fights, although I enjoyed finding out how he’s getting used to cellphones by the use of emojis.

Already looking forward to the next installment. Bring it on!
