A blanket kindled the crochet fever

I started to crochet again almost two years ago. Well, in fact I should say that I started crocheting at that moment, because what I did, being a child, were just chains. My mum tried to teach me but I has hopeless. Maybe it was not my moment, maybe I just had to wait 20 years to be able to crochet something decent (if the things I make can be called decent).

My niece Paula was born at the end of December of 2009. Before that I sometimes daydreamed about making amigurumis, but I never got to make any before my moment came; and the moment was about a couple of months before Paula was born. I checked on the Internet some nice Afghan blankets. On all the web pages they promised them to be extremely easy to make, so I decided to give the next step.

I learned then many things from fabulous blogs and videos in YouTube. It is really amazing the many different things that you can learn on the net.

I crocheted then everyday, at home, in the train going to and coming from work. I counted rows and stitches, I counted days and hours, and finally I got my blanket finished for those Christmas. All the family got amazed at the fact that I could do something useful with my hands (apparently they think that I can only do useful things with computers).

After that I got on crocheting. I started tons of projects and I didn't finish all of them, but I am getting slowly better at it and this blanket-thing helped me to discover something new. I crochet now from time to time during evenings, after eating dinner and while watching series (at the moment we are watching House, Modern Family and How I met your mother). It is very relaxing and it also gives a nice feeling when things turn out right and get finished.

A couple of months ago I discovered a group in Facebook called Stitch'n'Bitch. They meet every other Wednesday evening in a cafe to knit, crochet and also bitch a bit. Two weeks ago TVBrussel came to see us and they interviewed Johanna, the founder of the group:
